Jacqueline McKinnon, Ph.D., C. Psych

Dr. McKinnon is a registered member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario.  She grew up in London Ontario and completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Western Ontario.  She then went on to complete her Master’s and Doctoral degrees at York University, where she trained extensively with Dr. Leslie Greenberg (one of the primary originators and developers of Emotion-Focused Therapy for individuals and couples).  During these years she also sought out training in Cognitive Behaivoural Therapy through various workshops, courses, and practicum settings including North York General Hospital and the York University Psychology Clinic. Dr. McKinnon completed her pre-doctoral internship at The Ottawa Hospital in 2013 with major rotations in Chronic Pain Management and Urgent Care. Upon completing her clinical training, she returned to London and began working as an associate with Dr. Patricia Doris and Associates and with Brainworks: Client-Centred Rehabilitation. In 2019 she opened her own private practice.

Dr. McKinnon provides her clients with a safe, non-judgmental environment in which to explore their innermost thoughts and feelings.  In addition to addressing  the specific issues that have brought them to therapy, she endeavours to foster greater self-understanding and self-compassion in the clients she works with.  When appropriate, Dr. McKinnon offers practical suggestions and guidance in order to assist clients in effectively applying the tools they are learning in therapy to their everyday lives.  Ultimately, she strives to empower her clients by providing them with the self-understanding and skills they need in order to continue growing and making progress on their own beyond the final session.
